RxAssist is a website with information, news, and a database that are all designed to help you find out about ways to get affordable, or free, medications. The database includes information on the pharmaceutical companies' patient assistance programs, or programs that provide free medication to low-income patients.  INCOME TAX RESOURCES

• Property Tax Postponement Program : This program allows eligible homeowners to postpone payment of part or all of the property taxes on their principal place of residence. To participate in this program, the homeowner must complete a claim for and submit it to the State Controller's Office. The form must be filed each year the individual desires to have their property taxes postponed. Upon approval of the claim, the State Controller's Office will mail Certificate of Eligibility to the homeowner. The homeowner must mail or take the Certificate of Eligibility to the county tax collector's office to postpone the property taxes due.Get more information and claim forms from at State Controller's Office.
• Personal Income Tax: Tax Rate 1% to 9.3%
• Six income brackets from $5,834 the lowest to $38,291 the highest
• Joint filers pay twice the tax for half the income
• Tax Credits: Single-$80; Married- $160; Dependents- $251; 65 or older $65
• Standard deduction:$3,004 for a single person; $6,008 for a married couple filing jointly
• Federal Income Tax Deduction: 0
• Public Pension Exclusion: $40 for military
• Private Pension Exclusion: none
• Social Security Exemption: full
• Inheritance Tax: None
• Sales Tax: 9.25% (up to 10.25% with additional County and City Taxes) Sales Tax will be up more % by June 1, 2009 to 10.25% and up to 11.25% with additional County and City Taxes
• Food and prescription drugs are exempt from tax
